Nine Pavilions, Three Roof Styles, Two Materials

A pavilion is a pergola with a real roof. Berlin Gardens makes nine of them, in three roof silhouettes — A-frame (the classic peaked-roof look), hip (a four-sided slope), and slant (single-slope, contemporary) — and across two finish systems: stained pressure-treated wood, or Cellular PVC over a treated-wood structural core.

The wood lines (Breckenridge, Mesa, Cascade, Hampton, Prairie, Norwood) take stain. Mocha and Cedartone are the standards; Stormcloud Gray and Black Onyx are popular alternates for contemporary projects. The Cellular PVC lines (Wellington, Victoria, Siena) take paint — white is standard, but you can spec any color.

Pavilions ship in standard sizes through 18′×20′ (Victoria) and as large as 16′×20′ in the wood lines. Larger sizes available on request. Optional ceiling sheathing turns the underside into a finished surface; privacy walls and gutter boards extend the structure into a covered outdoor room.

Berlin Gardens Mesa wood pavilion in white pine with stormcloud stain

Mesa

A hip-roof wood pavilion in white pine. Specify a Stormcloud stain for a contemporary read — gray pulls all the warmth out of the wood and pushes the pavilion toward modern. Best when paired with a hardscape patio rather than a lawn install.

Standard Features

  • White pine pressure-treated wood
  • Hip-roof silhouette
  • Stormcloud, Mocha, Cedartone, Black Onyx stain options
  • Standard sizes through 16′×20′

The Berlin Gardens front-cover pavilion. Cellular PVC over treated wood, with premier arched beams as the headline detail. Available with classic, exposed-rafter, or media-wall roof variants. Specify white as the canvas; the arched beams do the architectural work.

Standard Features

  • Pressure-treated wood core, Cellular PVC wrap
  • Premier arched beam option

Cascade

An A-frame wood pavilion with the most decorative options in the BG lineup. Cedartone wood ceiling on Black Onyx framing is a popular spec.

  • A-frame silhouette
  • Optional premier arches and arched braces
  • Straight or arched beam variants
  • Standard or regular metal roof options

Prairie

The slant-roof wood pavilion. Open eave roof, single-slope silhouette — a contemporary alternative to the hip-roof and A-frame lines. Best when attached to the house, where the slant roof can echo the home's roofline; also works freestanding when paired with a horizontal privacy wall.

Standard Features

  • Stained pressure-treated wood
  • Slant-roof silhouette
  • Open eave roof option
  • Mocha, Cedartone, Stormcloud finishes
  • Designed for attached or freestanding install

Norwood

An A-frame pavilion in white pine. Lighter-weight wood than the standard treated lumber on other lines — the Norwood reads more cottage and less cabin. Cedartone stain on white pine produces a distinctive, slightly amber color that other BG lines don't hit.

Berlin Gardens Pavilion FAQ

Common questions about lines, materials, and roof styles.

A-frame, hip, or slant — how do I pick?
A-frame is the classic peaked-roof pavilion silhouette — the Breckenridge, Cascade, Hampton, Norwood. Hip roofs slope on all four sides, giving a softer profile that reads more residential — the Wellington, Mesa, Siena. Slant roofs are single-slope, more contemporary, often attached to the house — the Prairie. If you can't decide, A-frame is the most versatile.
Wood or Cellular PVC?
Wood needs periodic restaining (Mocha, Cedartone, etc. fade over time and benefit from a refresh every 3–5 years). Cellular PVC is paintable and doesn't rot, so it's effectively zero-maintenance once installed. Cellular PVC costs more up front; over a 15–20 year horizon the maintenance savings often net out.
Can I get a pool house instead of a pavilion?
Yes — Breckenridge is the model most often spec'd as a pool house. Wellington, Mesa, Victoria, and Cascade can also be configured with walls. See our Berlin Gardens pool house page for the configured-as-pool-house treatment.
What sizes are available?
Standard sizes run 10′×10′ to 18′×20′ depending on the line. Breckenridge, Cascade, and Wellington carry the largest footprints. Smaller lines (Mesa, Norwood, Prairie) cap around 14′×16′. Custom sizes are available; expect a longer lead time.
Is there a finished ceiling option?
Yes — Cedartone wood ceiling sheathing on wood lines, Azek ceiling on Cellular PVC lines. The exposed-rafter look (where you see the underside of the roof structure) is the standard; sheathing covers it for a cleaner read. White paint with Cedartone ceiling is a popular contrast spec on the Cascade and Wellington.
